iCARE4 Adoptive And Foster Families

We empower schools, families, and policymakers with education and resources to help them recognize that children from adoptive, foster, and kinship families have unique needs and require a different kind of support—one that’s holistic, collaborative, and grounded in a family-systems approach.

Why We’re Here

iCARE4 Adoptive And Foster Families was born out of a shared truth: too many children with adoptive, foster, or kinship histories were being misunderstood, misjudged, or simply missed altogether.

We are parents, educators, and clinicians—many with lived experience—who saw the gaps up close. Schools were trying, but unprepared. Families were doing their best, but left without support. Mental health providers weren’t trained for the layers these children carry.

We founded iCARE to change that. To build a future where every child feels seen, every family feels supported, and every professional is equipped to help them thrive.

Because connection is the key. And Connected, We Thrive™.

Will You Help us give kids what they need to thrive in school?

We’ve already made a BIG impact delivering 1,000 Connection Kits™ to schools. But right now, we’re just short of our goal to produce and deliver another 1,000 kits to schools across Illinois.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 99-1493489), and donations may be eligible for employer matching to amplify your impact.
